Muhammad Ali was one of Mike Tyson’s heroes and favourite fighters in boxing. Tyson idolized ‘The Greatest’ and never compared himself with Ali. Although Tyson admired and worshipped Muhammad Ali, he never wanted to be like him. Instead, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ wanted to shape himself in the manner of Sonny Liston and Jack Dempsey. According to ‘Kid Dynamite’, Jack Dempsey and Sonny Liston had more relatable lives.

However, Tyson sincerely loved Muhammad Ali. In fact, when Ali lost to Larry Holmes, Tyson was dejected and admitted him crying. In 1988, when Tyson faced Holmes at the Convention Center, Atlantic City, he avenged Ali’s loss with IBF World Heavy, WBA World Heavy (supervisor: James Binns), and WBC World Heavy (supervisor: Duane Ford) titles on the line.
