The Ring Magazine just updated their June top ten Lightweights (135lbs) list! While the list still contains the same figures it was initially composed of, there are a few noticeable changes. Although Gervonta Davis had initially occupied the no. 1 spot on the list, after ‘Tank’ vs. Frank Martin, Vasyl Lomachenko and Davis swapped places leading fans to beg for Loma vs. Davis.
Gervonta Davis had yet to make his return after the win against Ryan Garcia when Vasyl Lomachenko had tested himself against Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. Against Haney, Loma had a commendable performance which made several people question the decision of the fight delivered in Devin’s favor. Later, the Ukrainian boxer made a startling comeback by capturing an eleventh-round TKO against former Unified Lightweight champion, George Kambosos Jr. to win the IBF Lightweight title.
However, per the Ring Magazine, Vasyl Lomachenko remained no. 2 as Gervonta Davis, although inactive, was still undefeated in the sport. On the 15th of June, ‘Tank’ returned to KO Frank Martin in the eighth round of their fight with a thudding overhand. But despite the victory, the Ring Magazine has pushed ‘Tank’ behind Lomachenko.

At this, one must point out that in his last bout against Kambosos Jr., Lomachenko landed 36.5% of his punches having fought for eleven rounds. But, in his return to the sport after over a year, Gervonta Davis landed 44.4% of his total punches on Frank Martin within eight rounds of the fight. Simultaneously, one must also highlight the fact that George Kambosos Jr. was a more experienced fighter than Frank Martin as he had fought the likes of Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney.
Yet, a section of the fans remained unhappy about the updated rankings by Ring Magazine.
Fans upset about Gervonta Davis falling behind Vasyl Lomachenko
As per the fans, if Vasyl Lomachenko is given the No. 1 spot, the Ukrainian boxer must justify his ranking by showing he is more skillful than Gervonta Davis. And how does he do that? Simple – Lomachenko must share the ring against Gervonta Davis. On that note, a fan said it was “GREAT time” for Lomachenko vs. Davis:
Ring magazine is alluding this is a GREAT time for the loma and tank fight ..

Similarly, a fan felt it was necessary for Lomachenko to defeat Davis and justify his rank. So they wrote, “We getting 1 vs. 2 then.”

Meanwhile, one felt Loma did not deserve the No. 1 position. For the same reason, they branded the list as “Blasphemous.”
Loma in not no No. 1 lightweight in boxing nor is Naoya Inoue No. 1 P4P

On the other hand, one was upset because George Kambosos Jr. was nowhere to be seen. At the same time, they could not understand Raymond Muratalla’s position on the list.
Not far off but what has Murutalla done to be #7 and where’s Kambosos?
