Rachel Ball took her time to get going in the start and turned in a fairly lackluster performance in the opening few rounds. However, she picked up the pace from the halfway point and put her foot on the gas. Guanini tried to attack her in bursts and succeeded at the start of the fight. She managed to put the 29-year-old on the back foot a couple of times.

Despite this, Ball made the adjustments needed and started dominating the fight. The 28-year-old Argentinian was never out of the fight at any point and was in with a fair chance of getting the victory. However, after 10 rounds, neither fighter could get the knockout and the fight went to the judges’ scorecards. In the end, Ball got the decision with a comprehensive 99-91, 99-91, and 98-92 scoreline. This made her the new WBC super-bantamweight interim champion.

After a performance like that, Ball may have put the division on notice. She proved that she can cut it at the biggest stage. Furthermore, she hoped that it would put her at the forefront of the division. She said, “I’d like to get the WBA [belt]. That was kind of like my aim from the offset of this camp. I’d like to do that. I’d happily honor Bridges’ fight.”

However, one can not rule out a fight against WBC champion Yamileth Mercado either. Do you think Rachel Ball will get that title shot against Mercado or will she instead fight Ebanie Bridges?
