Oscar De La Hoya has turned fifty. In an Instagram post, ‘the Golden Boy’ parted ways with the qualifying noun ‘Boy’ and declared himself to be ‘Golden at 50’. On the occasion of his fiftieth birthday, De La Hoya thus wrote about his quest for happiness in life. He believes the older he gets the happier he becomes and can now finally say that he has “found it”. Although De La Hoya believed he would never “make it to 40, let alone 50“, the champion, who held titles in six weight classes, is more than “excited to freely live”.

Declaring his happiness and will to “freely live”, De La Hoya shared a tanned and bare-bodied picture of himself sporting his Olympic gold medal and the prestigious title by the notable Ring Magazine. While a number of fans reciprocated De La Hoya’s happiness and urge to express himself in public, others made jests upon him. Here is what they are saying.

However, a fan forbade De La Hoya who recently offered Terence Crawford a new opponent to pay heed to comments that were negative. “Happy Birthday Oscar don’t listen to people with negative comments …Real ones will appreciate a champion of his time; grew up watching you box was the best #iykyk when boxing was boxing,” they said.

Meanwhile, a user reminded De La Hoya he could still delete this by saying, “You still have time to delete this”.
