It has been decades since the infamous 1986 Mike Tyson vs. Mitch Green bout. While Tyson emerged victorious via a unanimous decision, the Harlem street fight between the duo in August 1988 shook the boxing world. 36 years after the incident, that left him bloodied and bruised, Green appeared in an interview with Vlad TV and recalled his tumultuous relationship with Iron Mike.

Despite a later reconciliation, it looks like the Augusta native is still holding a grudge against Tyson as he mocked the latter’s November fight against Jake Paul. During the discussion, Green spoke on the fight and also revealed his suspicions behind Tyson’s shocking 8th-round loss to Jake Paul.

Mike Tyson’s bad habit catching up

Green outright declined to consider the bout between Paul and Tyson as an actual fight. He contended, “I thought there was… should’ve put on lipstick and dance with them—there wasn’t no fight,” with a dry smile. ‘Blood’ further claimed that he already knew the result of the match and how it would turn out. That is why he decided to opt out of watching the match. In his heart, he knew it was a glorified exhibition and not a professional bout as it was promoted. “I didn’t even watch that, but I knew,” declared Green.

The 67-year-old then turned his attention to Mike Tyson, claiming that the latter’s bad habits were finally catching up to him. He explained, “If you ask me, I think the steroids caught up with him. He gets tired quicker.” Tyson’s steroid use is no secret. In fact, in his book, ‘Undisputed Truth,’ the Brooklyn native has admitted to using steroids in his boxing career.

Since his retirement, he has expressed regret over some of his decisions, but regret can’t take back the actions. Mitch Green then spoke about how people had some wild expectations of Mike Tyson in this match despite being 58. “Some people tell me, ‘He’s gonna tackle, he’s gonna knock him out. He ain’t the same’,” recalled the 19-6-1 boxer. But Green always knew that nothing like that was going to happen.

The former gang leader continued his detraction of the ‘Baddest Man On The Planet’. Then, he not only issued an open challenge to Jake Paul but proclaimed that if he were to fight Paul, he would win the fight easily.

Jake Paul’s next challenger?

During the conversation about the Netflix event, Green candidly claimed, “I bet I beat Jake Paul.” Vladimir Lyubovny aka DJ Vlad initially took the proclamation as a joke, but as the 67-year-old started, the host realized it was not a humorous statement. Rather, Green was believing every single word. ‘Blood’ further explained. “I still…man….quick. I hit hard, fast. And when I do, something like that,” while shadowboxing to show his quickness even at this stage.

Green further ridiculed Jake Paul, claiming, “That boy can’t fight. He can’t beat me. He beat Tyson, but he won’t beat me. They all know who I am, his hands down,” before asking one of Vlad’s crew member to take a swing at him so he can show off his skills because his “heart is still thick. He can’t hurt me.”

However, contrary to what Mitch Green believes, it does not look like he would be able to hold his own even against Jake Paul. He is 67 years old now and appeared quite out of breath during the interview. And no matter how thick and strong his heart is, if his body can’t keep up, it really does not matter. So, it does not look like Jake Paul will pay any heed to this challenge.

On the other hand, Green could be right about Mike Tyson. After all, we saw Iron Mike losing all the steam after the first round and by the end, he was relying on El Gallo’s mercy, who even stopped fighting 10 seconds before the final bell in the eighth round.
