Despite hanging up the gloves, Floyd Mayweather continues to dominate conversations and capture attention like no other! Not long ago, after Devin Haney defeated Regis Prograis in December last year, Bill Haney lashed out at Gervonta Davis because of some claims Davis made about the ticket prices for the Prograis fight. Meanwhile, Bill also took shots at Davis’ former promoter and mentor, Floyd Mayweather.
In an interview with Fight Hype, Bill said, “The Mayweather era—that’s over with man. It’s the Devin Haney era.” He then added, “Floyd ain’t never [done] what Devin did at 25. ‘Tank’ ain’t [done] it; nobody else ain’t [done] it. Listen, y’all [are] just scared to say it.” So, with Haney’s fight against Ryan Garcia just six days away, Bill Haney appeared in a podcast with Boss Talk 101, where he took a bold stance to get the same point across.

Speaking to Haney Sr., the host brought up Bill’s interview, probing him about his outrageous claims about the legendary Floyd Mayweather. In response, Devin’s father simply said, “If I’m lying, punch me in the mouth or put him in the ring with Devin and prove me wrong. Whoever that may be, whoever your favorite fighter is [because] we take on the world.”
Further justifying his prior statements about ‘Money,’ Bill highlighted Devin Haney’s former undisputed status at lightweight division. “[We’ve] done stuff that Floyd hasn’t done, and that’s become undisputed. And then, go and defend it again to put that stamp on.” It’s worth mentioning that Devin defended his undisputed status twice.
Once against George Kambosos Jr. in a rematch and the second time against lightweight legend Vasyl Lomachenko. Meanwhile, though Floyd Mayweather achieved numerous accolades in his storied career, he never achieved undisputed status. So, Bill said, “In order to stamp it, you got to stick around; you got to hang around that block to make sure [it’s] yours before you turf hop.” Meanwhile, the feud between Floyd Mayweather and Bill Haney seems to have gotten worse!

Ahead of the first press conference for the fight between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, Floyd Mayweather shared sparring footage of Devin and Gervonta Davis with Garcia. In the clip, Devin was seemingly dominated by Davis. While, of course, Bill denied that wasn’t the case, Bill also asked Floyd to release the sparring footage of him and Devin.

During an interview, Bill said, “It ain’t going to work, Floyd. He should’ve [shown] the sparring video of him and Devin while he’s showing all those sparring videos… It was like Floyd was looking in the mirror when I’m talking. It was before the Conor McGregor fight when he finally decided that he could no longer be in there boxing with no real fighters.”
At this point, a case can be made for a fight between Bill Haney and Floyd Mayweather because of the bold statements made by Bill. However, the bigger question is, do you think Devin Haney has achieved more than Floyd at 25?
