The excitement for the upcoming Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach rematch is electric. After what seemed like a casual WBA lightweight title defense for Tank, spiraled into controversy as Roach carved out a hard-fought draw. A result could have been a win for him if referee Steve Willis had counted Davis’s knee as a knockdown. However, that chapter is closed, and the duo is locked in on the rematch. For The Reaper, it is about proving that the last match wasn’t a fluke. For Davis, it’s about showing that March 31, 2025, was an anomaly in his otherwise dominant career and safeguarding his legacy.

The outcome remains uncertain, but one thing is sure: both will make key adjustments for this showdown. As the fight approaches, boxing coach Greg Hackett revealed exactly what both fighters must tweak to secure a decisive victory.

Gervonta Davis needs to calm down

On Monday, Hotshot sat down with Ron Gondall for a Fight Hype interview. Gondall started the conversation by asking the veteran trainer for his prediction of the rematch. Surprisingly, Greg Hackett was one of the few who gave Lamont Roach a chance in the first bout. For the rematch, he predicted another hard-fought battle.

Gondall followed up that question by asking, “You think there will be any different adjustments, or you think the fight’s going to look the same?” Well, according to the Philadelphia native, both Davis and Roach will have to make necessary adjustments to their game plan. He dropped some golden advice for Gervonta Davis, claiming that the WBA champion needs to calm down. “Tank needs to work behind his jab more, and Tank needs to focus more on combination punching, you know what I’m saying. Not trying to get the knockout all the time,” he stated. Not every fight will end in a KO, and when that happens, the Baltimorean needs to go back to basics. Something he failed to do the first time around.

As for Lamont Roach, Hackett believes that the Washington native should skip the feeling-out process. “Lamont has to be first and has to get to that body, you know what I’m saying, those are the adjustments in my eyes,” he advised.

While Coach Hackett believes that it will be a coin toss of a battle, the consensus favors Roach as the favorite. Something unheard of when it comes to the Gervonta Davis fight. However, this time things look grim as Roach’s younger brother sent a grim warning to the Baltimorean.

Lamont Roach has some unfinished business

Recently, Jordan Roach had a candid chat with Fight Hype TV. During the conversation, the interviewer reminded the 21-year-old about his daring prediction ahead of Roach-Davis’ first fight. He was one of the few who favored his brother. With the rematch nearing, the interviewer asked, “A potential rematch. What goes differently and what stays the same?”

While he refused to give up any important strategy ahead of the fight, he assured everyone that his brother would finish the job this time around. “I can’t give up too much. What goes differently, my brother wins. What stays the same is my brother put his hands on them,” he declared.

However, the real bombshell came afterwards, when Jordan Roach claimed that the venue doesn’t matter. Given the controversial decision last time around, everyone thought Roach’s camp would like to switch away from New York. However, it seems like there are no intentions, as the younger Roach predicted a KO victory for his brother. “New York was cool. It don’t matter, we still going to get hands put on them,” he declared.

What do you think? Will Lamont Roach get the decisive victory this time, or will Gervonta Davis find his lost motivation to shut down all the recent doubts regarding his skills? Drop down your pick below.
