WBC silver lightweight champion Ryan Garcia revealed he’s glad that negotiations for his fight against Luke Campbell are finally over. Garcia had made travel arrangements to go and fight Campbell in England.

However, those plans were quickly put on hold, after both golden boy promotions and Matchroom boxing confirmed the fight will take place in America instead.

This bodes well for Garcia, as he’ll certainly relish the home advantage. Also, the fight will most likely take place at Fantasy Springs Resort, a place where Garcia has fought multiple times.

Ryan Garcia is ready for the biggest fight in his career

I really thought I was going to England. I was like, alright, cool, let’s do this. I’m down for it. I’m super excited. It’s good for me, but honestly, it really doesn’t matter — home turf or away turf. I don’t really hear the crowd anyway and there probably won’t be a crowd anyway,” said Garcia.

There were some delays in setting up the fight, caused by contract negotiations. Golden Boy Promotions revealed they were not happy with the initial contract offered and had decided to go into a Purse Bid.

However, both promoters struck a deal before this could take place, making the fight official.

Ryan Garcia has been vocal about fighting Luke Campbell ever since his impressive performance against Francisco Fonseca. Garcia said that he was keen on fighting more experienced fighters after a string of impressive wins over lower-ranked opponents.

Campbell is a very experienced fighter and is a former Olympic medalist as well. He’s also had multiple title fights and lost to Vasily Lomachenko in a close-fought contest in August.

This will certainly be a huge test for Ryan Garcia and a chance for him to secure title shots in the future.
