Jamaine Ortiz was disappointed with the outcome of the fight with Teofimo Lopez. But now, putting aside the upsetting outcome, he wants to move ahead. Probably, he could make use of a valuable piece of advice that might come in handy during the future outing.

The fight with Lopez generated some heat on account of a couple of issues, such as the decision and the scoring. But aside from these, another topic soon became a debating point. Jamaine Ortiz succeeded in frustrating ‘The Takeover’, who found it increasingly tough to engage ‘The Technician’ as he moved across the ring. Ortiz thus nearly succeeded in blunting Lopez’s attack. However, the fact also remains that Ortiz didn’t leverage any advantage from his tactic and turn the tables on the reigning champion. That being said, the match is a thing of the past now. He has to look ahead. Who knows, a slight tweak in tactics could reap benefits.

Yesterday, Jamaine Ortiz, displaying a time-honored fighting spirit, tweeted that he wants to get his next fight as soon as possible. “I wanna get back in the ring asap!” said ‘The Technician’. Amongst a stream of flaks that ranged from calls for retirement to considering a transfer to track and field came a message from a fellow light welterweight traveler.

Richardson Hitchins wrote that next time Ortiz needs to control his in-ring movement. If he can reduce his frequent turn-arounds, then in the next fight, the result might be in his favor. The Brooklyn-born boxer said, “Don’t run so much next time; maybe next time it will go in your favor.” Coming from a fighter who has yet to lose a single bout, the words might prove useful in getting Ortiz out of a tight spot.

During the fight against Lopez, Ortiz adopted the southpaw stance. But aside from the adjustment, he never went into an attacking mode, instead preferring to move and defend himself. Probably that’s where ‘The Takeover’ paid back. His dogged attack seemingly impressed the judges enough to award the match in his favor.

26-year-old Richardson Hitchins incidentally has a critical fight line-up ahead on April 6. He will fight Gustavo Daniel Lemos from Argentina at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. Though a non-title fight, it’s a final title eliminator for the IBF’s world championship. Continuing on his winning streak, he won both of his fights last year. First, he defeated John Bauza on February 3. Later on September 23, he defeated three-time world title challenger Jose Zepeda by a unanimous decision.
