After the recent success of BYB 19: “Brawl in the Pines,” the BYB Extreme Fighting Series is all set to return to Biloxi, Mississippi with the highly-anticipated BYB20: “Brawl on the Bayou” on September 16th. The long-overdue rematch between Patricia Juarez and Monica Medina will headline the event. Last year, the duo stepped inside the mighty trigon with Paty’s BYB Women’s Lightweight title on the line.
Having brawled for seven blood-spilling and hardcore three-minute rounds, Juarez won the contest via a split decision. Besides defending her BYB title, she became the new Police Gazette women’s 135 Diamond champion following this win. While Paty, the fighter from Denver, hopes to upset Medina again this Saturday, the brawler from Mississippi not only has the opportunity to avenge her loss against Juarez but also one more shot at the BYB Women’s Lightweight title and the Police Gazette Diamond belt.

After the first fight with Juarez, Medina was supposed to lock horns with Kallia Kourouni aka ‘Pink Tyson’. However, since ‘Pink Tyson’ “did not want to fight,” Medina shared the trigon with Jessica Link. Following her victory over Link, besides branding ‘Pink Tyson’ “a b*tch,” Medina declared she was going to “get ready for Paty next year“. “Next is absolutely that title shot with Paty. I wish her a speedy recovery. I’m gonna get back in the gym and we’re going to train. I’m not gonna fight until she’s ready,” Medina told Erin Toughill.

According to Medina, who was initially a trained MMA fighter, her fight with Juarez was “my first time ever boxing“. Although the fighter from Mississippi admitted that boxing is still new to her, she announced that she improved a lot since her fight with Paty. “I was an MMA fighter, a grappler. So, boxing is still new to me,” she said. “I have improved a lot,” she added.

It is worth mentioning that both women showed interest in a rematch in the wake of their first fight. While Medina said she had the “most f**king fun” against Juarez, the latter said she was thankful to God, her family in Colorado, her children, and the BYB. On being asked if she wished to defend her titles, Juarez replied, “Absolutely“.
