As the fight against Mike Tyson has been postponed to November, Jake Paul has decided to face a different Mike on July 20th – Mike Perry, a former UFC fighter currently undefeated in the BKFC. Unlike Tyson, Perry is in his prime and hence already favored by several people against ‘The Problem Child’. But, fighting a seasoned fighter in Perry only four months before the bout against Tyson comes with its risks. For the same reason, Paul almost withdrew himself from a contest against Perry.

Provided Perry beats Paul, fans will lose significant interest in Jake’s next match. At the same time, there is a chance Tyson vs. Paul simply would not take place if Perry humbles and injures Jake. So, while Paul remains active by facing Perry this July, he is in a way putting his match against Tyson on the line. In this context, the 27-year-old now meditates on the “major risk” he is taking.

I am literally potentially sacrificing the biggest moment of my career, the biggest payday of my career if I lose to Mike Perry. But for some reason, these are positions I like to put myself in to get better inside the ring under the lights,” said Paul in a YouTube video titled, “I’m Fighting Mike Perry.”

Just being honest, at one point, we made the decision to not do this fight. We were like ‘Let’s not do it. Let’s just wait for Mike,'” added Paul. However, after some time, the unwavering Paul made up his mind to test himself against Perry while Mike Tyson recovered. Additionally, in a press release, Paul declared he was seeing Perry as a practice match ahead of the fight against ‘Kid Dynamite’.

Has Jake Paul made the “worst mistake” of his life?

As per Jake Paul’s own observation, Mike Perry is a knockout artist and a commendable competitor. With five wins in the BKFC and fourteen in the UFC, ‘Platinum’ has proved himself to be a “maniac” both in and out of the ring. So, while Jake Paul is taking a massive risk by facing the 32-year-old, ‘The Problem Child’ believes a fight against Perry is “the perfect experience for me to gain.” But, ‘Platinum’ Perry feels Paul is deluded.

Hinting at the same, after the announcement of their fight, Mike Perry ridiculed Jake Paul for claiming he feared no man. “On Saturday, July 20, the world will see the truth: he just made the worst mistake of his life in trying to get through me before Iron Mike,” declared the 32-year-old. Before concluding, he mentioned that he would easily defeat Paul and teach the latter something about fighting.
