Ryan Garcia vs. Oscar Duarte was a fight that fans will not forget for a good while. It was KingRy’s chance for redemption after his first career loss against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. Garcia pulled through very well and claimed his victory. In the post-fight interview, Garcia revealed that Rolando Romero is the one he wants next. He feels it will be a good show since his opponent is ‘crazy’ inside the ring. But, ‘Two Tanks’ Ohara Davies has already set his gaze upon Rolly.

Ohara Davies was set to fight Ismael Barroso on 2nd December. However, the boxer faced issues pertaining to his visa that caused a delay in the fight. The WBA had previously authorized Davies vs. Barroso as an interim WBA title match. Romero, the current WBA junior welterweight champion, must face Davies as he is injured and unable to comply with the body-ordered bout.

After Garcia called out Romero in the post-fight interview, Davies, on social media, made sure to let Garcia know that he was the one in line for the fight against the WBA junior welterweight champion. He also added that he won’t be stepping aside for anyone.

Hi @RyanGarcia good win – unfortunately there will be no you Vs Rollies for the belt, I am mandatory and I’m not stepping aside for love nor money, @SignUp4KOs soon I will show you how to deal with the old man. There will be no party” said Davies, taking to X.

Davies won his last fight in March when he knocked out Ritson with a fierce body shot. Barroso last fought Romero in May, losing the contest for the vacant WBA super lightweight strap. Garcia has proved himself to be worthy of a title fight, but it is clear that if Davies has his way, then Garcia will not be getting a chance at the title anytime soon.

In the past, Romero has made it clear right after his fight against Ismael Barroso that he wanted to make his first title defense against Ryan Garcia. Romero-Garcia is definitely a more well-known fight, but it makes sense that England’s Davies wants the title shot. Now that Garcia has shown interest in fighting Romero, it is not unlikely that the fight will happen.

Romero went as far as to call Davies, ‘Fun sponge’ as a fun fight before he faces Garcia. Both Garcia and Davies show remarkable skills. Both can bring in record-breaking numbers in a title fight. But it is clear that Romero sees Davies as a stepping stone for his big fight against Garcia.
