People can criticize Youtuber turned boxers like Jake Paul, and view the success of these ‘Influencer’ boxers in a condescending manner. But you cannot deny the fact that these social media personalities have actually spread boxing to the masses again. And they’ve also inspired a lot of people to actually pursue professional boxing as a career or as a self-defense mechanism.
Youtube boxing has been a massive game changer when it comes to selling tickets. As per Boxing Expert of Sky Sports, Johnny Nelson, world-class level boxers are not able to garner as much attention as a ‘novice’ like Jake Paul.
And that’s because these influencers know very well how to market themselves. And boxers need to possess that skill too, otherwise, they will keep getting outclassed despite being the more talented ones. Even a year ago, Mike Tyson shared his thoughts about Jake Paul & influencers stepping into the ring.

Recently, professional Bodybuilder Jonni Shreve posted a Youtube video where he is seen preparing for a potential fight with a Youtuber in the future.
The training video of Jonnie Shreve with the trainer of Jake Paul
At the beginning of the video, Shreve speaks out about his plan to train as a boxer. As in today’s Social Media dictated world, he jokingly remarks how one needs to be always prepared for a boxing match, as anybody can call you out at any time. Shreve is aware that he won’t have much mobility because of his past as a 250 lbs bodybuilder. And currently, he’s 225 pounds, so he expects to be a bit more functional inside the ring.
Jonnie Shreve went to the ‘Self-Made Training Facility ‘ where he met up with Chris who’s helped KSI, Jake Paul, and Floyd Mayweather, in their boxing endeavors. And during the training, he was actually not that bad and wasn’t as stiff as Chris thought he’d be. So Shreve did quite well for a powerlifter like him.
Chris made him work on his jab, parry, and right hook. Jonnie was getting used to the mitts routine, then he also worked a bit on the punching bag. Jonnie later admitted that Boxing cardio is one of the hardest cardio workouts he’s ever done, after rolling cardio. Then he put some work in the abs workout, and that’s how Shreve worked in the direction his journey of boxing.
