Ruiz, at 35, has captivated the fans with her rounded boxing skills, where she has showcased her powers and her technical skills. The interim champion made waves after her pro debut in 2017 continuing her strides with to an unblemished record of 16-0-1 with 8 KOs. What has impressed fans is her knack for finishes and her heavy-handed punches, and you don’t have to look beyond her KO ratio of 50% to realize the threat she brings to the squared circle. Ruiz’s dimensions, a height of 5’6″ (168 cm), have allowed her to impose her will on her opponents and how she paces the fights. However, the major boxing sites lack details about her reach.

Fuchs, on the other hand, at 36, is older, but she is still new to the sport of pro-boxing. Despite only making her venture into pro-boxing a couple of years ago, she has shown promise and boxing prowess to succeed at the highest level. The Houston native’s clean record of 3-0 with 1 KO also adds to her case. But it seems she lacks power behind her punches to score one-punch knockouts, as suggested by her 33.33% KO ratio.

Not only that, Fuchs also loses ground when it comes to size and weight advantage, as she stands tall at 5’4″ (163 cm) and weighs 113.4 lbs (51.4 kg), based on her last weigh-in, compared to Ruiz’s 118.8 lbs (53.9 kg). So, on paper, it looks like a mismatch, as ‘La Cobra’ tries to defend her interim title, which she held for almost two years now.

Prediction: X factor, and where will the fight be won?

Have an interesting take?

Ruiz has everything going for her in the fight. The LA native is coming off a comprehensive win against Catherine Tacone Ramos this July, and you can expect her to be in shape. Besides being a powerful power, she is also taller and heavier than her challenger, which only adds more to her devastating power. Then there is her X factor—her experience, which has taught her the sweet science through some grueling fights. You can also add to it the mix of her fighting before the home crowd, which will cheer for her and boost her confidence. But will it be enough?

You need to look at Fuchs’ solid amateur career to understand what she brings to the table. The southpaw boxer won a bronze at the 2018 World Championships, which she improved to silver at the 2019 Pan American Games, and it resulted in her captaining Team USA at the 2020 Olympics. While she last fought against Indeya Smith 14 months ago, she overcame a cut above her left eye to collect a decision win. And the former Olympian hasn’t exactly been inactive.

Fuchs turned to Team Combat League, where she fought two one-round fights on the same night on multiple occasions and went 14-2 during that run. She is brimming with confidence and has enough amateur experience on her resume to tackle any situation that Ruiz might pose to her. When you factor in her southpaw stance, her X-factor, it could be an interesting affair, as she can cut angles to land precise blows on Ruiz, while evading the champion’s power shots.

It will be a delight for the fans, as the fight has all the markings of a contest going down the wire. But if we have to make a call, the smart and logical pick will be to stick with Ruiz because of her pro experience, ability to produce knockouts, and fitness going full distances against abled opponents. However, this is boxing, and here, everyone has a puncher’s chance.
