The paths of KSI and Jake Paul are always so close to crossing, only to diverge at the last moment. The boxing gods have teased the fans, only to pull the rug under their feet. While the feud between two of the biggest stars in crossover boxing has been brewing for years, it has never come to fruition. Despite the career of KSI and ‘The Problem Child’ heading into different trajectories now, it remains the fight to make. But does a fight with KSI fit into the American influencer’s plan of becoming a world champion?

The year 2023 has brought contrasting fortunes for both KSI and Paul. While Paul dropped his first professional fight to Tommy Fury, he soon bounced back with a win against Nate Diaz. Meanwhile, KSI knocked out FaZe Temperrr, and got his victory over Joe Fournier overturned to no contest. Further, his closely contested fight against Tommy Fury, which he picked to prove himself a better boxer than Paul, resulted in a loss. 2024 is fast approaching, and the fans’ patience runs thin. Will they ever witness the two square off before Paul pushes for a title shot?

KSI and Paul are from the first crop of influencers who ventured into boxing and are crawling up the ladder. Both continue to surge in popularity and have achieved a magnum of stature in the influencer boxing space. It is not long before promoters will push a matchup between them.

KSI reiterates the same and believes the bad blood between them adds another level of intrigue to their grudge fight. A win for either boxer, and especially Paul, will propel him to the top of the influencer boxing hierarchy. Something that goes even beyond money.

“It’s a huge fight. Especially because the ego is on the line. Like, not even money, like, not even the money, fame, whatever. It’s the ego. It’s the eagle of pride who is going to be the YouTuber dude that falls down,” KSI told Logan Paul. While KSI continues to discard money as a factor, the proposed fight will undoubtedly rack up millions.

A PPV dream that needs to be realized

The two biggest influencers going blow for blow in the squared circle will be the apt conclusion of their heated rivalry. The fans are waiting for the grudge fight to materialize and will flock in huge numbers to see KSI and Paul exchange punches. In addition, the fight is a promoter’s dream, which will shatter PPV records.

Both Jake Paul and KSI have carved out an image of PPV cash cows, and hence, a potential fight between them might sell a million PPV at least. Notably, Paul’s fight with Diaz amassed almost 500,000 PPV buys, and KSI’s clash with Tommy Fury sold nearly 1.3 million PPVs.

The numbers speak for themselves. Irrespective of the result, the fight will do tremendous business and even silence the doubters of crossover boxing. Crossover boxing’s element of entertainment is what sells the fight, and if the current trend is an indication, it is here to stay. The showdown between KSI and Paul, a PPV dream, will not only justify crossover boxing success but also cement their legacy. However, the younger of the Paul brothers is himself torn with the idea.

A conflicted Jake Paul about the KSI fight

KSI’s manager and Misfits Boxing co-founder, Mams Taylor, recently shed light on Paul’s intention of agreeing to the fight. He revealed to Ariel Helwani how Paul didn’t want to fight KSI after the American influencer lost to Tommy Fury. Taylor said, “There are times where Jake really believes he wants to fight KSI, and he’s like, ‘Screw this, let’s put this to bed and let’s do this.’ I believe he thinks that.”

“And then other things get in the way, or maybe because Jake doesn’t have as many things going on as KSI… If Jake fights KSI and loses to KSI, that’s it for him. It’s done,” Taylor added. Currently, Paul is trying to adjust to fighting with KSI and how it aligns with his vision of becoming a world champion.

But since KSI went toe-to-toe with Tommy Fury, few would doubt the British influencer’s boxing acumen. Therefore, a win over KSI will boost his boxing resume and, despite not helping him directly, might help him land a few big names.
