Andy Ruiz Jr. is a Mexican superstar in American professional boxing. He has multiple titles conquered under his name, and in 2019 he became the first man of Mexican ethnicity to ever be called the heavyweight champion of the world. And then in 2019, Ruiz Jr. signed a deal with the banner, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC). But now, according to ESPN KNOCKOUT, it seems that the deal is terminated, as Andy Ruiz Sr. has reported that his son is going to continue the sport as a ‘free agent’.

Before this, the promotional banner PBC also lost another significant heavyweight boxer, Deontay Wilder. It was due to the same reason, as Wilder also proposed to be a ‘free agent’. Well now, this obviously means a bit of degradation on PBC’s part, but both of the fighters’ contracts came to an end with a mutual understanding. And both Wilder and Ruiz Jr. claim to be on good terms with PBC’s Al Haymon. The ‘free agent’ announcement was also tweeted by the online boxing editor of talkSPORT, Michael Benson.

But now the prospect of the bout between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. is coming closer to being a reality. Recently, Eddie Hearn promised to do for Deontay Wilder, what PBC failed to do. Meanwhile, Ruiz Jr. also declined his fight against Filip Hrgovic for the interim IBF heavyweight championship. So, the fans are awaiting a big announcement with bright eyes as they are excited to see what the future holds.

Fans React to Andy Ruiz Jr. coming out as a ‘free agent’

Andry Ruiz Sr., the father of Andry Ruiz Jr., told ESPN KNOCKOUT that the contract between PBC and Ruiz Jr. was put down amicably. There were no harsh feelings left when it was voided. And now, Ruiz Jr. is open to fighting Deontay Wilder, but he’s also looking to swoop in with British boxer Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua, with whom he’s already fought two times, inside the ring again. Well regardless, the fans are pretty excited to see the unfolding of Ruiz’s career as a ‘free agent’.

Let’s look at some comments from the Twitter post.
