“Parasite of Boxing With Social Disorder”: World Champion Sunny Edwards Blasts Famous Glove Maker Over Usyk vs. Dubois Remarks

Oleksandr Usyk has proven yet again that he’s worthy to be considered among the top contenders of the Heavyweight division. After his remarkable ninth-round knockout win against his WBA mandatory opponent, Daniel Dubois, Usyk has managed to retain his belts for the second time. However, a controversial moment occurred in the middle of the bout, Dubois tried to hit a body shot, but since it allegedly seemed to be under navel, the referee called it a low blow. He gave Usyk five minutes of recovery time before starting again.

The world of boxing is left divided, some agree that it was a low blow, while others simply don’t and believe that it was unfair to Dubois. Recently, the Boxing World Champion, Sunny Edwards, got into an online debate with a famous boxing glove maker about the controversial punch of this fight.

Sunny Edwards disagrees with something

The well-known boxing glove maker, Filippo Leccese, explained his stance on Usyk vs. Dubois in detail, as he posted a screenshot of the fight on his Instagram. He spoke about the regulations and believed that it was indeed a low blow, and there was nothing wrong done by the referee by assigning 5 minutes time, as per the regulations. Then Leccese went on about Dubois as a fighter, he said, “DDD is an overrated boxer who, until yesterday evening, had only met fighters of the same level and mostly unknown“.

He also stated that even though he has fought many times using his gloves, he doesn’t consider himself a good boxer. He even remarked, “I’ve never seen a Boxer use so many glove brands in such a short time… Reyes, Di_Nardo, Adidas, Everlast, FLY… isn’t this a symptom of great insecurity?” Then he advised Dubois to change his whole team and add a new perspective to his life. Well, this post came to Sunny Edward’s attention and he instantly shared his thoughts about Leccese’s claims.

Edwards stated that this entire drama is happening because Dubois doesn’t wear his gloves anymore. He even criticized him for over-priced gloves, and believes his gloves “aren’t even good”. He also added, “Parasite of boxing with social disorders“. Moreover, it is also to be noted that Edwards belongs to the group that did not see Dubois’ punch as a low blow.

Edwards’ personal commentary on Usyk vs. Dubois

While the fight was happening last Saturday, Edwards was voicing out his opinions on the bout live on the X app, and there were a series of posts he made regarding the punch. At first, when Usyk was down, Edwards called it a “massive shot“.

Then, he did not agree with the referee calling it a low blow, because according to Edwards, it was a blatant body shot.

After this, he again made a post about the punch, and this time, he called it a “pit shot“. He could not see the punch as a low blow at any cost.

After the 5-minute time was given, Edwards wrote how every boxer would wish to see Dubois becoming the world champion right now. But unfortunately, it did not happen.

So, Edwards has been quite clear regarding his opinion about the great Heavyweight fight in Poland, and what he thinks about the infamous shot. While Leccese was somewhat coming from a personal point of view, Edwards may also be doing the same thing as his support belongs to the other side of the spectrum.
