The unthinkable happened on December 5, 2021, at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. Career-wise, Gervonta Davis was dragged to the finish line for the second time. But in a twelve-round bout, it was a first. Isaac Cruz drew laurels and won his high-hitting opponent’s respect. Since then, fans and followers have been clamoring for a rematch. Seemingly, discussions have been taking place, per several accounts. No wonder a short clip from their match soon became a talking point as more and more viewers joined and started airing their views. Unsurprisingly, the second matchup remained the first thought for most.

Per the initial schedule, Rolando Romero was supposed to fight Davis. But a few issues forced a last-minute substitution, resulting in Isaac Cruz entering the ring. The match ended with a unanimous victory for ‘Tank.’

According to the following fan, many overestimate Gervonta Davis. Isaac Cruz received barely a week’s notice for the bout. However, the way he fought, it seemed as if ‘Tank’ was up for his first career loss.

The following user highlighted that Cruz possesses incredible power for his weight division. So, in other words, boxers should take due notice. If they settle for a fight against the ‘Pitbull,’ they must understand that they are walking into a grueling battle.

According to the following fan, the match at Staples Center in Los Angeles could have been a draw. Isaac Cruz couldn’t knock down Gervonta Davis, but under no circumstances was it fair to reward the latter.

This fan said he would prefer a rematch between Davis and Cruz. It would be much better than watching the ‘Tank’ wind up Chris Colbert within the fifth or sixth round.

But this user sounds a bit skeptical about Isaac Cruz’s prowess. He says hooks are the only area where the Mexican boxer specializes. Otherwise, he isn’t that strong either.

Gervonta Davis knocked out Ryan Garcia in April. Since his release from prison last month, talks have been in progress about his next move. Amidst rumors of a fight with the former WBA (Interim) Super Featherweight title holder, discussions of an Isaac Cruz rematch are gradually gaining ground.

Allegedly, a match date seems to be in the offing. Then there was talk of a bout with Terence Crawford as well. However, as it stands, the Welterweight champion has made it clear that any fight between them has to happen at 147 pounds.
