In a segment of The MMA Hour, Oscar De La Hoya shared his sharp insights with host Ariel Helwani, setting the stage for an electrifying matchup. “My gut is saying knockout,” De La Hoya confidently declared, sparking immediate curiosity about which of Garcia’s punches could end the fight.
“What? A left hook?” Helwani probed. However, De La Hoya emphasized a less celebrated but equally lethal weapon in Garcia’s arsenal. “I don’t know which punch, I mean yeah he does have that devastating left hook, but I think people forget about that right hand cross. Right hand that he has, it’s going to be intense. It’s going to be crazy intense,” he elaborated.
That wasn’t all! Oscar made another claim of how this fight could easily be among top 10 PPVs of all time.

Oscar De La Hoya was not one to mince words over The MMA Hour. “I’m one of the biggest top 10 pay-per-views of all time,” he confidently told Ariel Helwani. It also prompted the Montreal born journalist to double-check: Could it really cross the million mark? “Absolutely, okay, absolutely yeah, this is huge; it’s really big; it’s successful; it’s successful already,” De La Hoya stressed.
Garcia’s effortless promotional skills are not hidden after all. “I found the diamond in the rough with Ryan; he’s a hell of a fighter. Come Saturday night, he’s going to be in tip-top shape.” Clearly, De La Hoya sees his role as more than just the basics — he’s there to spotlight a star who’s already got his glow on.
With only a few hours left for the fight, we will soon get to know if any of Oscar’s claims hold up. But, do you think they would hold up? They are big claims, so will Garcia deliver on the night and will the event hit the lofty targets set by De La Hoya?
