One of the most thrilling lightweight matchups of the year has come to a standstill. Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis are scheduled to fight on April 15 in Las Vegas. Both the fighters have been eying ring time with each other for a while. Garcia, represented by Oscar De La Hoya’s golden boy promotions, won his previous bout with Javier Fortuna via a 10th-round knockout. Gervonta, on the other hand, won his fight with Hector Garcia last month via 9th TKO. The preparations for the fight were at full throttle until disagreement on a rematch clause arose from both sides.
In a recent tweet, Oscar De La Hoya, Ryan’s promoter, gave an insight into the current rematch clause disagreement and what other things are being looked into apart from it.

In a recent tweet, Oscar De La Hoya addressed what needs to be taken care of among the leaked reports about the rematch clause. “I remained focused on finalizing Tank Vs. KingRy” wrote the American promoter. Moreover, he added, “Contrary to leaked reports about the rematch clause, there’s still a couple points with strings attached that need to be ironed out.”
The rematch clause is hindering the finalizing of the Garcia Vs. Tank fight. According to the current clause, If Davis, represented by the Premier boxing champions, loses to Ryan, PBC wants to have the staging rights for the rematch. But, on the contrary, golden boy promotions think it’s evident that the winner of the previous bout should be able to stage the next fight. Oscar shared that he remains focused on finalizing the fight and is determined for both fighters to meet in the ring.
