The Ryan Garcia vs. Devin Haney event in New York has some electrifying fights! The Pierre Dibombe vs. Bektemir Melikuziev fight especially stood out because of their heavy exchanges that opened up a cut above Dibombe’s left eye. As the exchanges continued, even Melikuziev suffered a cut above his eye.
However, Dibombe seems to have been taking the worst of the exchanges as the fifth round saw Dibombe getting knocked down a couple of times. It was made worse by a doctor’s intervention who cleared Dibombe to continue. Despite everything, Melikuziev was able to trip the Orthodox boxer from France in the sixth round.

As the seventh round kicked off, “Bek The Bully” showcased his superior footwork as he danced around the Nantes, Loire-Atlantique resident, pushing him to the limit in the ropes. However, during the eighth round, the doctor was called in for the last time as the fight was stopped because Melikuziev’s cut seemed to be getting worse. Despite suffering a severe cut, Melikuziev was leading the rounds in terms of points.
As the judges were finalizing the results, Melikuziev seemed confident about taking home the victory as he put his hands in the air to celebrate it prematurely. The official decision scored the fight in the defender’s favor as his celebrations didn’t go in vain. So, Melikuziev retained his WBA Intercontinental Super Middleweight title. However, the blood on the canvas from both fighters made the brutality of the fight evident.
After the fight concluded, Michael Benson shared a couple of pictures of Melikuziev and Dibombe’s cuts on X. He captioned the tweet, “Bektemir Melikuziev and Pierre Hubert Dibombe both suffering serious cuts during their fight on the Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia undercard…” As one would expect, the graphic pictures attracted a lot of wild reactions.
