Oscar De La Hoya has a way with words. The promoter has an upfront personality and is not hesitant to share his opinions. And with this trait, he likes to call out other personalities in boxing- professional boxers or promoters themselves. Even though he doesn’t use his hands anymore since his retirement from the sport as a boxer, it is safe to say that he lets his mouth do the work for him. Oscar De La Hoya recently took to social media to call out a fellow promoter. ‘The Golden Boy’ wrote a message directed at Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn.

Oscar and Eddie have a long history of taking verbal jabs at each other. And they are not the ones who would enjoy each other’s company if they were together in a room. The American promoter took a dig at Hearn for the recent fight involving Regis Prograis.

Oscar De La Hoya wants Hearn to go back to the UK

Oscar De La Hoya took to Twitter to call out Eddie Hearn for Prograis’s recent title defense. Regis Prograis recently won his bout against Danielito Zorrilla via split decision, successfully defending his WBC super-lightweight championship title. But, it seems like not everybody was happy with the fight.

Oscar De La Hoya called it “Another Sh***y card” and advised Hearn to go back to the UK to learn from a fight he organized. He wrote, “Go back to the UK and watch another fight of the year candidate July 8 @VergilOrtiz vs @E_Stanionis.” It seems like Oscar is certain that the fight between Golden Boy-signed Vergil Ortiz and Eumantas Stanionis is a contender for the ‘fight of the year’.

Eddie Hearn signed Prograis in April, and this was the first fight for the champion under Matchroom. Even though the fans might have enjoyed the fight for the title, however, the same cannot be said for the 50-year-old promoter. Recently, Oscar made headlines regarding one boxer who was signed to Golden Boy promotions.

Recently, Oscar De La Hoya made headlines after he sued lightweight star Ryan Garica. The Boxing world was shocked by the news of a verbal disagreement between Golden Boy Promotions and ‘KingRy.’ Garcia’s team claimed that the promotions has allegedly violated their contract. And in return, the promotions have chosen to take the matter to court.

Golden Boy Promotions sued Garcia to enforce the contract with the 24-year-old. This lawsuit is a way for the promotions to ensure that Garcia honors the remainder of his contract.
