Mastermind Oscar De La Hoya is already planning the next big fight for Ryan Garcia! He expects the banned boxer to move up two weight classes and lock horns with none other than Vergil Ortiz at 154lbs! Guess what? Garcia is willing to accept the fight too provided De La Hoya puts his company, Golden Boy Promotions on the line!
Although Ryan Garcia is struggling with his personal life after the NYSAC ban, promoter Oscar De La Hoya thinks the buildup for Garcia vs. Ortiz has begun. He can precisely picture the match happening at the Dallas Cowboys stadium at 154 lbs. “It’s very doable,” Oscar De La Hoya said.
In May this year, Garcia had called out Vergil Ortiz saying he would replace Tim Tszyu, who was supposed to face Ortiz on August 3rd. Speaking of which, planning a “super-fight,” De La Hoya recounted, “I believe it was Ryan Garcia that called out Vergil.” Additionally, he mentioned Garcia defeated Ortiz twice when they fought in the amateurs. And now, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions took the matter to X.

Earlier, the 51-year-old, referring to the history Garcia and Ortiz share, said, “Ryan has two wins. Three strikes and you’re out, so let’s make it in the pros. I’m calling it now: That fight is very doable.” Now, the promoter opened the field to the fans. “Hypothetically, who wins at 154 @VergilOrtiz or @RyanGarcia,” he asked on X.
Several people including Ryan Garcia himself engaged with the tweet. Here is what they said.

As soon as Oscar De La Hoya expressed his desire to stage Ryan Garcia vs. Vergil Ortiz, former Welterweight champion, Paulie Malignaggi completely ridiculed the matchup. In his opinion, it is absurd to expect that Garcia will “jump up two weight classes in the span of a year” and fight one of the best punchers in that division. Aligning with Malignaggi’s views, a fan said Garcia would have to be on PEDs to defeat Ortiz.
So, they said, “Ryan But with Ostarine.”

On the other hand, a fan thought Ryan could land power while Vergil had solid footwork in the game. “I take Ortiz by body shot,” they ultimately declared.
Hypothetically? If Ryan’s power translates he has a punchers chance for sure…. But I also like Vergil footwork I think he is a solid… I take Ortiz by body shot

However, a fan thinks Ryan Garcia can “Easily” win against Ortiz.
Ryan Garcia. Easily

After the win against Haney, Garcia tested positive for a banned substance named Ostarine. Speaking of which, a fan wondered if ‘KingRy’ would pass the drug test.

But, what does Ryan Garcia have to say? You would not believe what he wrote in reply. While it is hard to say whether or not he accepts the match, he roasted De La Hoya unabashedly.

“Winner gets your company,” Garcia told Oscar De La Hoya.
