Even though he was considered one of the top boxers of his division, Ryan Garcia failed to live up to the expectations placed on him. The fight was highly anticipated, and Garcia was expected to bring the heat to Gervonta Davis. The talks before the fight also hyped up the fight. However, it is safe to say that, Davis beat Garcia convincingly. ‘Tank’ looked to be a level above ‘KingRy’ and ended the fight in the 7th round.
This raised a lot of eyebrows from fans and other boxing experts. What was more surprising was that during the post-fight press conference, Oscar De La Hoya and Garcia’s trainer Joe Goossen were nowhere to be seen. Goossen later revealed that he missed the presser because he didn’t even know it was taking place. Meanwhile, De La Hoya revealed his reasons for not attending to be because of “death threats” he had received.
Recently, Garcia made a surprising decision of firing his old coach. However, Goossen claims that he saw the termination coming and that he doesn’t mind it. He also shared his admiration of Garcia. However, this incident raised some questions about the relationship between Garcia and De La Hoya. However, it seems that everything is fine for now. As De La Hoya recently, congratulated Garcia on getting a new trainer. He also sent out a message to ‘KingRy’.
