Speaking to Fight Hub TV on YouTube, De La Hoya addressed the situation. He said, “No, no, we haven’t talked to anybody yet. We’re trying to pin down one of Manny’s people who calls the shots and makes the decisions. And we haven’t had any success.”
Thus, with these comments, he shut down the rumors; however, he confirmed that Garcia and his team were seriously looking to make the fight. He then explained the announcement of the fight by saying, “It’s all just Instagram. That’s all it is.”
These comments will come as an enormous blow to ‘Kingry’ as he has promoted this fight for the longest time. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how he reacts to these comments from his promoter.

What do the comments from Oscar De La Hoya mean for Ryan Garcia?
The undefeated sensation is a global superstar with a huge fan-following. So, he will now have to find a new opponent for his next fight. However, that will be more complicated than it sounds as the situation in the division is tricky.
Garcia had initially called Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney. He was adamant on a fight against ‘Tank’ and claimed there was progress. However, Garcia gave that up to pursue the Pacquiao fight. So now that he won’t be fighting Pacquiao, he may want to target Davis again.

Unfortunately, ‘Tank’ has claimed he may not fight this year because of miscommunication amongst his team. Moreover, Haney is looking to fight Jorge Linares if Garcia is not interested in that fight. Thus, recent rumors point towards ‘Kingry’ fighting Javier Fortuna.
Either way, Garcia will have to fight a suitable opponent, or face the backlash for picking his fights carefully. What do you make of this news? Do you think Ryan Garcia should fight Devin Haney instead of Manny Pacquiao?
