Oscar De La Hoya is one of the greatest boxers of his generation. The American won eleven world titles across six weight classes. After a successful career, ‘Golden Boy’ started his promotional company and became one of the biggest promoters in the world.
Despite all this success, the desire to box has pushed De La Hoya to return to the sport. The former champion announced he was training for a comeback at the back end of 2020. And now, he finally has a date for his comeback fight.
De La Hoya broke the news at the Jake Paul-Ben Askren press conference, and Marc Raimondi from ESPN was the first to reveal the details. He claimed Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh is good friends with De La Hoya, and the pair are working towards a return for the champion on July 3.

Moreover, he reported that they are looking for a ‘Big’ UFC name for the former champion’s comeback. Raimondi also revealed that the possible venue for the bout would be the famous AT&T Stadium in Texas (home of the Dallas Cowboys). He also included that De La Hoya has a multi-fight deal with Triller, and thus, it would not be a one-off bout for the former champion.

Oscar De La Hoya announces (quietly) that he's making his comeback on July 3. His mic drop didn't really work so well given his mic wasn't working to begin with.

Retired boxers should have to get cleared from a committee of real fans before they announce their comebacks so we can tell them that we've moved on. They need to hear that, it seems. Mike Tyson? Always. Floyd? In a legit fight, sure. Oscar De La Hoya? I mean, who asked for this?
