Boxing fans are waiting for some of the biggest fights to happen in 2023, and the showdown has already started. Among those, one of the main events could be Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford’s mega-fight, which is rumored to be happening in 2023. However, Oscar De La Hoya stated something slightly different from what everyone thinks.

In an interview with Flight Hub TV, The Golden Boy replied to a question on the potential fights for Crawford as he plans to sign the latter under his promotion. De La expressed his view on Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence Jr fight that has created a lot of buzz among the fans. He thinks that before fighting with Errol Spence Jr., Crawford should look for other opponents.

According to him, the potential opponents might be Alexis Rocha or Vergil Ortiz, among others.

Terence Crawford needs more fights before fighting with Errol Spence Jr.

Crawford and Spence Jr. both are among the best fighters in the welterweight category and pound-for-pound boxing. In recent times, they are doing pretty well and fans want a tough battle between the two in the welterweight division.

Meanwhile, the reporter asked Oscar De La Hoya about what could be the possible fights for Terrence Crawford after joining his team, “If you could what would be the first you make with Terence?” the reporter asked.

In response, The Golden Boy’ gave a roadmap to Terrence Crawford for the upcoming fights.

He said, “I would have watched Terrence with Rocha, yeah! That’s the fight. And then we have Vergil and then hey why not, sit down with PBC and finally figure out Spence.”

However, Crawford’s last fight was the best fight among all his other fights.

Terence Crawford gave a splendid performance in his last fight with another contender, David Avanesyan in his last fight on December 11, 2022. There Crawford showed his magnificent skill and within 6 rounds he knocked out Avanesyan.

It remains to be seen how Oscar De La Hoya handles Crawford if he joins his promotion. Will he give Crawford a free rein in choosing his fights? Only time will tell.
