Jaime Munguia might as well be the next opponent of David Benavidez. On The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Oscar De La Hoya recently disclosed that he is talking to the representatives of David Benavidez regarding the mentioned fight. Sitting with Helwani, De La Hoya revealed how much he enjoyed promoting fighters in the sport. In fact, the CEO of Golden Boy stated that he would promote till he is Bob Arum‘s age.

Speaking about promoting, De La Hoya addressed his “beef” with Eddie Hearn and in that context informed about the potential bout between Munguia and Benavidez. Despite the “beef” in Helwani’s language, De La Hoya answered that he would work with Hearn if there was a fight and the prospect of creating champions together. For example, the 50-year-old referred to his interest in Munguia and Benavidez.

According to De La Hoya, he should not have a problem working with Eddie Hearn on a fight if the latter means business. In this connection, he referred to his interest in Benavidez who is currently promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz.  As per his statements, if he can work with Lewkowicz, he can work with Hearn too. “I’m working on a fight now between Jaime Munguia and Benavidez. I’m talking to his [Benavidez] representatives, but there are whispers that Edgar Berlanga wants to fight Jaime Munguia,” De La Hoya declared.

Simultaneously, addressing Eddie Hearn, he added, “Yeah, if the opportunity presents itself, and we can sit down and talk. I have no problem and talking to somebody that wants to do business and wants to create champions and build superstars. I have no problem with that.” Apart from stating that he would potentially work with Hearn in future, De La Hoya who has a distinctive response to hate expressed what he felt about Hearn as a promoter in the sport.

Although De La Hoya called Hearn “a great promoter in the UK“, he addressed how Hearn spent millions of Dazin’s money building nothing. “He’s a great promoter in the UK. Let me do my job here and let me take care of business. Because obviously, he does not know the market here. He literally spent millions of DAZN’s money and still hasn’t built anything,” stated De La Hoya.
