The promoter of Ryan Garcia, Oscar De La Hoya has finally broken his silence on being absent at the Garcia vs. Davis post-fight press conference. In a recent Instagram post, while congratulating Gervonta Davis on his victory, De La Hoya clarified why he and Bernard Hopkins were not able to attend the post-fight conference last Saturday. While the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions revealed he received death threats, he stated the PBC allegedly banned Bernard Hopkins “from everything”.

De La Hoya acknowledged the labor expended by both the fighters and simultaneously accused PBC of deliberately “attacking” Golden Boy Promotions. According to the former world champion, contrary to floating concerns, there is no issue between Garcia and Golden Boy Promotions. In fact, the former Olympic Gold medalist even assured ‘KingRy’ and the world of having Garcia’s back.

Following De La Hoya’s absence at the post-fight conference, CEO of Mayweather Promotions Leonard Ellerbe gripped De La Hoya’s own words and spoke about Golden Boy promotions lacking faith in ‘KingRy’. Now, the boxer-turned-promoter has cited Ellerbe’s speech to announce his support for Garcia. “Ryan Garcia, I have your back. Bernard has your back. We’re with you a ‘thousand percent’,” declared De La Hoya. Speaking of avoiding the post-fight conference, De La Hoya claimed he “received death threats for the whole week“.

My security team told me, ‘Boss, we gotta get the f*ck out of here’. Because I received death threats throughout the whole week. They said it was too dangerous so we got out of there,” stated De La Hoya. Having clarified his absence, ‘Golden Boy’ accused ‘PBC minions’ of spreading rumors about there being issues between Golden Boy Promotions and Garcia. “This is all coming from PBC minions that are just attacking Ryan and Golden Boy,” he added. However, De La Hoya congratulated ‘Tank’ on a “beautiful body shot” and guaranteed Garcia’s stronger comeback in the sport.
