In pursuit of proving his mettle in the boxing realm, Devin Haney will undertake a fight against Regis Prograis. He was given the opportunity to defend his lightweight title against Shakur Stevenson. However, he instead chose to take his fight against Prograis on December 9th. As the fight nears the horizon, Prograis has brewed some striking hot gossip that might have questioned Haney’s undefeated status.
With just over a month left for the big clash, Prograis has raised some serious eyebrows. He claimed that his upcoming opponent had lost a fight earlier in his career in Mexico. But with the influence of money on his side, Haney shrugged the loss under the carpet, passing his boxing record unscathed. As expected, in response, came a fuming Devin Haney refuting everything that his opponent had to say and more.

As ‘Rougarou’s’ claims shook the boxing realm, one knew that when the ‘Dream’ Haney would respond, he would be coming with all his claws out. Of course, he would, especially since his entire undefeated status that he so proudly fought for is being disputed. And he did exactly that. In response to Rougarou, Haney tweeted, “Only a dumbass would believe some shit like that.. this info is coming from Rolly that should tell u enough.”

Ever since his pro-debut in 2015, Haney has proven his adeptness in the sport by never having lost any bouts. With a stellar record of 30 undefeated fights, half of them through knockouts, he has emerged as a face in the realm that can potentially cause serious disruptions to the current order.
What gave Haney the courage to fight Regis Prograis? The latter chimes in
Devin Haney’s decision to challenge Regis Prograis for the WBC super lightweight title was prompted by several factors. However popular opinion persists that Prograis underperformed against Danieltio Zorrilla, prompting Haney to consider a Rougarou fight. The latter faced Zorrilla on June 17 and won a comfortable decision. However, he admits he wasn’t at his best despite winning 10 rounds on one judge’s scorecard and nine on another. This performance seemed to boost the confidence of Bill Haney, Devin’s father and trainer, in considering a fight with Prograis, as he was present at the bout.

Prograis believes that had he dominated Zorrilla quickly, Devin Haney might not have pushed for the fight. He suggests that Dream saw vulnerabilities in his Zorrilla performance and decided to seize the opportunity to challenge him for the WBC belt. However, Devin Haney disputed the claims. His response is that he had expressed his desire to fight Prograis even before the Zorrilla bout.
