As usual, the ongoing saga surrounds boxing’s top names—Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Gervonta Davis. The three had been exchanging words and calling each other out for the past few days. Now, with Ryan Garcia signing up for his first fight after his one-year suspension, it’s clear that these stars are on a collision course. But the story isn’t as straightforward as it seems, especially considering the new developments orchestrated by the Riyadh Season head, His Excellency Turki Alalshikh.

Devin Haney, who had earlier confirmed his return to the ring in March, posted an update recently on X. This move would make him a potential challenger in the welterweight division, aligning him with Ryan Garcia. Haney’s post was clear: “Bye 140,” he wrote, before adding, “Once I go to 147 I will never go back down.” This signals his intention to make a permanent move to a higher weight class, leaving the super lightweight division behind in an effort to get a rematch with Ryan Garcia. With Garcia already declaring that he would never fight below 140 lbs again, where does that leave Gervonta Davis?

And the tension between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis? It remains as electric as ever. Despite Tank Davis defeating the Victorville native in their previous showdown on April 2023, Garcia had been asking for a rematch with Davis, possibly at a higher weight class. Tank had long ignored the clamor for a rematch.

That was until an Instagram live session where Gervonta Davis demanded $150 million for the rematch to happen. So where is the problem? With Haney moving up to 147 lbs for the rematch and Davis asking for “150 m’s”, who will get a chance to fight Ryan Garcia? Well, it seems according to another development, Tank may never get the 150 million rematch.

Devin Haney asks for a 90-day pause in his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia

According to a recent ESPN report, Devin Haney has requested that the court pause proceedings on his lawsuit against Ryan Garcia for 90 days due to a tentative settlement being discussed. This legal request was made after both fighters reached an agreement. According to Ring Magazine, the tentative agreement between the Dream and KingRy could see them face off in the second half of 2025, possibly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Before that, the two are predicted to fight different opponents on the same card in the US in May. This means that once the two are done with their respective opponents in May, their rematch will be set for the latter half of 2025.
