Can Logan Paul handle the heat from a seasoned fighter like Victor Ortiz? Let's hear your thoughts!

It’s been a while since Logan Paul entered the boxing ring, but it’s not because of a lack of opponents. As it turns out, former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz is open to fighting the former WWE United States Champion in an exhibition setting like Floyd Mayweather. ‘Vicious’ Ortiz even trained with the Westlake, Ohio-born wrestler when the latter took on legendary five-division champion Floyd Mayweather in 2021.

While the Kansas native is slated to lock horns with Argentina’s Rodrigo Damian Coria on August 24th at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico in the undercard of his former rival Mayweather vs. John Gotti III, he is aiming for bigger things. Speaking to DJ Vlad in an interview, the 37-year-old claimed he could easily get the better of Logan Paul.

During the interview, the host of the show highlighted how Ortiz trained with Logan Paul before the Mayweather exhibition bout back in June 2021. When asked about whether he wanted to fight Logan as well, Ortiz said, “Yeah, I would… [and Logan’s heavier weight class] doesn’t matter.”

He also downplayed Logan Paul going the distance against Floyd Mayweather, stating, “It’s a whole different animal. It’s a different game. The way I fight is very different from [the] Floyd Mayweather type.” Even though Logan Paul towers over Ortiz in terms of sheer size, Ortiz Jr. felt he could easily counter that with his power.

“I hit like a heavyweight,” Ortiz said, later adding, “I just know that I’m a lot for some of those boys to handle.” Interestingly, Victor Ortiz hasn’t entered the ring since May 2022 after defeating journeyman Todd Manuel. Even then, Ortiz’s career was on a downward spiral since he was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather in September 2011.

Regardless, while Ortiz seems unimpressed by Logan’s fight against Mayweather, he was impressed by something else when he was training with the Maverick.

Logan Paul knocking out sparring partner left Ortiz in awe

Back in 2020, before the exhibition fight against Mayweather, Logan Paul left Victor Ortiz absolutely stunned with a knockout during a sparring session. Ortiz, who played a key role in prepping Paul for his exhibition fight with Floyd Mayweather, couldn’t believe Paul’s performance. In an interview with MMAFighting, Ortiz recalled, “He was so composed and relaxed.”

“He used his reach perfect—took a little step, hook down the middle, sleep. Night-night,” he added. Ortiz even joked that Paul’s only flaw was not reading his opponent a bedtime story. Ortiz’s high praise highlights Paul’s impressive skills and potential, but even then, Mayweather showed he was the superior boxer.

Will Logan Paul now accept the challenge from Victor Ortiz? Given Paul’s lucrative career in WWE and sparse appearance in the boxing ring, it’s highly unlikely. However, enough money could entice the older Paul brother into the ring again. Would you watch that fight?
