Oleksandr Usyk is officially the best heavyweight boxer in this era, a status he achieved after becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion by defeating Tyson Fury last month. Even Ring Magazine promoted the fighter on their pound for pound rankings, giving him the No. 1 spot. And guess what? The best status comes with some perks! What’s that?

Well, now ‘The Cat’ gets to compare his vanquished rivals as he wishes. Something the undefeated Ukrainian boxer did while appearing in the Three Knockdown Rule podcast today. Who did he compare? Speaking to the host Mario Lopez, Usyk explained the differences between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury!

The ‘Gypsy King’ fight is still fresh in memory, as ‘The Cat’ outboxed and outperformed his British counterpart in Riyadh on his way to a split decision win. Whereas, the Anthony Joshua fights were a while back, when Usyk did the same to Joshua twice! So, when Lopez asked Usyk to compare his former foes, Usyk had a unique perspective.

In response, Usyk opted for his refined English, as he said, “Anthony Joshua is classic boxing. Greedy Belly my friend Tyson Fury – listen, it’s like still water and sparkling. Still water is Anthony Joshua, sparkling water is Tyson Fury”. What he could have meant was, Tyson Fury is a very loud and showboating personality, which was evident during the lead up to the fight as well. Fury basically taunted Usyk when they were in the ring!

Although Anthony Joshua has consistently exhibited a calm and calculated demeanor, it wasn’t enough to secure victories against Oleksandr Usyk in their two bouts. However, this fact doesn’t invalidate Usyk’s statements in any manner. Nonetheless, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to clash on December 21 at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, so maybe Fury could change Usyk’s mind.

However, Oleksandr Usyk seems to have some other exciting plans after the rematch. And the boxers at the cruiserweight division might not like it!

Oleksandr Usyk drops bombshell

Following his win over Tyson Fury, many in the community thought Usyk should retire from the sport, as he has achieved everything a boxer could hope for. However, not only is Usyk coming back for a rendezvous with Tyson Fury, he seemingly wants to go back to the cruiserweight division, where he once held the undisputed status as well.

During the same podcast, Usyk told Lopez, “I think maybe after the rematch, I am going to go down in weight to cruiserweight. I want more cruiserweight”. Usyk further expressed his desire to reclaim the undisputed championship at cruiserweight, citing his aversion to the rigorous dietary demands necessary for competing in the heavyweight division.
