For one, it was a fight to get back into the groove and move on to a bigger fight. But for the other, the underdog, it was the biggest fight of her career. While Stevie Morgan didn’t find her hands raised inside the squared circle, she won hearts for taking up the challenge. For Amanda Serrano, it was a test to brush aside a hot and devastating fighter, and she held on, proving her credentials and satisfying the fans with her splendid outing.

Serrano, 35, bagged the win as she floored Morgan in round 2, setting the fight with Katie Taylor in motion. Now she has momentum and another knockout in the bag.

Morgan came all guns blazing, and soon the onslaught turned into a nightmare when her feeble jab and lack of defense put her on the ropes. While the American fighter had the ground in round 1 initially, the gulf in their skills was soon apparent. After an engaging round 1, Serrano continued her offense, and her combinations found Morgan’s skin and body with every punch. Soon, Morgan’s hands gave up, and she soaked up the heavy punishment until the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

In the post-fight interview, the Puerto Rican fighter sent a message to Taylor in a gleeful tone. In addition, she said, “I respect the women I go up against. It’s a business. I think we all need to work together. But if you’re not on my level, that’s what happens.” Fans and pundits took to the comment section and lauded Serrano for her dominating performance.

Alycia Baumgardner went on a rampage and slandered Serrano for her choice of opponent. She asked, “Why not a better opponent?”

Then Baumgardner demanded that she needed to fight Serrano, given her most recent performance against Morgan. She declared, “Listen! Give me her !”

In addition, ‘The Bomb’ theorized that Serrano might have had harder sparring than the Morgan fight and expected the rematch with Taylor to be a blockbuster. She is keeping her hopes high for what the Irish fighter brings to the fight. She wrote, “I’m sure her sparing was harder. Welp! Ready to see what Katie brings!”

Dan Rafael listed out a couple of firsts for Serrano in the Morgan fight. Her first KO win in 3 years and the first in the super lightweight division. Expressing his excitement about the Taylor rematch, he noted, “Serrano TKO2 Morgan. Absolute mismatch of the highest order. Morgan zero skill or defense or offense. Serrano first stoppage in like three years and at 140. Bring on Katie Taylor rematch.”

ESPN’s Mike Coppinger also mentioned the gaping holes in Morgan’s defense, which allowed her to get hit and not respond. He announced, “Amanda Serrano’s opponent Stevie Morgan could barely defend herself. Second-round TKO victory and Serrano moves on to Nov. 12 rematch with Katie Taylor.”

Lastly, Lou DiBella called Serrano “atrocious,” putting her on any parameter in women’s boxing. He commented, “Girl fighting Amanda is objectively atrocious.”
