Devin Haney has found himself in a weird spot after Ryan Garcia was sidelined from boxing for one year by the NYSAC. However, it’s not because of the suspension itself, rather it’s because of what Haney decided to do after the suspension. What did he do? Well, he sued Garcia for damaging his image by allegedly taking the PED and cheating!
Following the loss, Haney received a mere $1.2 million offer from his mandatory WBC purse bid for the fight against Sandor Martin. The low fight purse, Haney claims, is a direct result of the Garcia loss, which has now been expunged. So, boxing commentator and YouTuber, ShowBizz the Adult has asked ‘The Dream’ to wake up and fight someone of his own size and who is also in their prime to clear his image.

The boxing commentator has been on Haney’s case since the latter decided to sue Garcia. So, explaining why he would like to see Haney fight at 147-pounds, instead of 140-pounds where he fought Garcia, ShowBizz said, “Devin Haney, he is far bigger than everybody. Devin Haney fans cry about three pounds when it comes to Ryan Garcia. [Garcia] gave him a piece of his own medicine but Devin Haney [is] bigger than everybody, younger than everybody”.

It’s worth mentioning that ‘King Ry’ came in 3.2-pounds heavier in the final weigh-ins for the fight. However, Haney is also known for quickly rehydrating to a higher weight on the night of the fight. The best example of the same would be the Regis Prograis fight, when Haney visibly looked way bigger than Prograis. Something even ShowBizz spoke about in his video, saying, “Everybody he fought you look at him, Jo Jo Diaz coming up, Lomachenko coming up, fight Prograis, way bigger than him”.
So, the boxing commentator suggested, “He has to come back and fight somebody his size, that’s Prime, to wipe that clean”. However, it’s certainly not going to be Sandor Martin, per an update about Haney’s champion status.

Devin Haney ain’t no Canelo Alvarez, so the WBC didn’t stick around for him. Actually, he must be mad right now because the WBC has now made Haney the ‘champion in recess’. It hasn’t even been two weeks since Haney’s purse bid for the Martin mandatory, and the WBC has taken away his title, upgrading Alberto Puello to interim WBC champion. And now, Puello will have to defend his title against Martin to win the full version of the belt.
‼️ The WBC have now made Devin Haney the WBC super-lightweight ‘champion in recess’ and upgraded Alberto Puello from ‘interim’ to full WBC world champion. They have also ordered Puello to defend vs Sandor Martin next with Gary Antuanne Russell mandatory for the winner.

Also, whoever wins the fight will face Gary Antuanne Russell as their mandatory next. Meanwhile, Puello has reacted to this news, saying, “I said I deserved it and God brought it to me”. Puello had previously asked Haney to vacate the title if he didn’t want to face Martin—seems like his dream came true. Interestingly, Haney responded to Puello on X, writing, “You’re welcome brother..”
With Sandor Martin and his WBC belt out of the way, it would be interesting to see who Devin Haney faces next. Will he take ShowBizz’s advice and face someone in welterweight? Or an easy fight is on its way?
