Boxing is a demanding sport. The wear and tear that a boxer acquires in their boxing career stays with him till the end of their life. The damages are not only physical but also affect the mental health of the fighter. Over the years, there have been countless cases of a retired boxer suffering from random mood swings, rage reactions, and even chronic traumatic problems.
This is the case with almost every combat sport. The career can pass on an adrenaline high, but the scares begin to appear as the rush dies down. That is why a successful career after retirement for a boxer is not only a rarity but also a surprise. Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather is one of the few examples who has turned their fortunes around after retirement and it impresses even American actor Michael Jai White.

During a sit-down interview with Ukrainian host DJ Vlad, the conversation shifted to the often grim realities that boxers face after retirement. Vlad delved into how the physical and mental toll of the sport leaves fighters struggling long after their careers end, pointing out that the average person would want to avoid such a fate at all costs. The interviewer then zeroed in on Floyd Mayweather, one of the sport’s biggest names, and asked White for his opinion on Mayweather’s post-retirement career.
White was impressed and a tad bit surprised by how ‘Money’ handled his career after retirement. We know about the business ventures and exhibition fights Mayweather has participated in since his retirement. But according to the American actor, that is just the tip of the surface. “He is making moves nobody ever gonna know about. He’s doing so many things. So, he is playing chess man. I can’t think of any other boxer who’s done and still doing things that he is doing,” the Never Back Down star stated.

He further acknowledged the smart moves Mayweather has made post-retirement and how impressively the latter has showcased his life to the outside world. “He presents something on the surface that everybody’s focused on. But that is just a subterfuge for doing things you wanna do,” added the actor in an impressed manner.
Well, this is not the first time that chess has been associated with Mayweather. A few years ago, the boxer himself admitted that chess is an important part of his life and has saved him countless times.
