Canelo Alvarez became the undisputed champion after his victory against Caleb Plant via TKO in the 11th round. The win was historic, to say the least, as Canelo was finally able to unify 4 titles at 168 pounds. Though Plant did show his toughness and endurance throughout the fight, Alvarez’s guard was simply impeccable. Plant was unable to land any significant hit on the champion, and in the end, crumbled against Alvarez.
After his recent defeat at the hands of David Benavidez, many are wondering about Plant’s future. Fans are concerned if Plant will be able to return to his glorious self when he was undefeated. Canelo recently held a media workout ahead of his next bout against John Ryder. It was held in the House of Boxing Gym in San Diego. There, he shared his thoughts on Caleb Plant’s progression after the latter’s first loss at the hands of ‘Cinnamon’.

Canelo gives his thoughts on Caleb Plant’s current abilities
An Instagram clip shows Canelo’s interview with a reporter. The reporter asked Canelo if the Canelo Alvarez from 2021 is back after his return. To which Canelo confirmed that he was the same fighter as before. ‘Cinnamon’ was then asked about Caleb Plant and whether he still looked like the same fighter. While Canelo acknowledged that Plant may not exactly be the same as he was before, he still believes that Plant is a good fighter.
Seemingly, Alvarez believes that after handing Plant his first loss, ‘Sweethands’ has never been the same. “Maybe not the same, but he is a good fighter,” said Canelo. In the same interview, Canelo also jokingly imitated Conor McGregor.

Saul was also asked about the reason for his loss against Dmitry Bivol to which Canelo revealed that it was indeed his hand that was injured. He went on to explain that it was most likely due to him fighting four fights in 11 months. Boxing is a sport that can easily take a toll on its fighters, which seems to be the case here. However, Canelo acknowledged that injuries are simply a part of boxing.
