A rivalry that started with Jake Paul wanting to take his revenge on behalf of his brother Logan Paul, who lost to KSI in 2019, has still not reached its fruition. It has been five years and the teams of both YouTubers-turned-boxers have been indulging in on-and-off negotiations. KSI’s boxing career seems to have stagnated after the Tommy Fury fight in October last year, on the other hand, Jake Paul is putting on high-profile fights with boxers or MMA artists who are way past their prime.
But what’s stopping the Paul-KSI fight from reaching a possible breakthrough? Well, the major bone of contention is the weight class at which both internet sensations would fight. If KSI’s words are to be believed, Paul wants to fight at 195 Ibs. However, ‘The Nightmare’ wants to fight at 185 lbs.
“I am not doing it [at 195]. 185, the same as Tommy Fury. I will just wait. Enjoy fighting heavyweights. If you want to continue fighting heavyweights, be my guest, ” KSI stated calmly in one of his YouTube videos. He further said he would much rather fight retired professional boxers like Amir Khan or Floyd Mayweather at a weight class he feels comfortable in, than fight Paul at 195. “I am just not a 200-pounder, that’s not me. I can’t be that big,” he further noted in the video. Responding to the KSI’s video on X, cruiserweight boxer J’Leon Love hinted at the fact that KSI was making excuses to not fight the Ohio native.

“So many words he doesn’t want to fight Jake. What’s 190 or 195 to make for the biggest fight with a rival you claim you really want to fight and you think you can beat? Do it for the fans on both sides. If he really wanted to fight he would.” Love wrote. In response to Love’s tweet, KSI’s manager Mams Taylor reminded the cruiserweight boxer of a shameful event in his boxing career. Notably, J’Leon failed a drug test following his controversial 10-round split decision win against Gabriel Rosado on May 4, 2013. He tested positive for the banned diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide which serves as a masking agent for steroids. Reportedly, he was suspended for six months by NYSAC and was fined $10,000.
Pointing to the aforementioned incident, Taylor wrote, “Not everyone takes that Jamba Juice to put on unnatural size.”

A joke to the sport!
The 27-year-old American Youtuber-turned-boxer was fed up with KSI’s antics. He called KSI “a joke” to the sport for wanting to engage in a 2 vs. 1 boxing match against influencers Anthony Taylor and Slim Albaher at an upcoming Misfits event on August 31.
“He has been a joke in the sport since day one. I said before the Gib fight that he would never fight me. And that still holds true. He is doing this WWE tag team boxing and that’s not what I am here to do. I am here to become a world champion,” Paul remarked.

However, ‘The Nightmare’ had to pull out of the tag team boxing match after suffering a hand injury while playing golf. The injury will keep him out of the boxing ring for at least a year. In the meantime, KSI will be performing a special live concert at the upcoming Misfits event on August 31
