Boxing is a sport that can be unpredictable, and despite all the hard work and planning that goes into making a fight happen, there are many reasons why fights get canceled. However, the most common one in recent times is mainly due to contract negotiations between fighters breaking down. Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder thinks that this is certainly the case when it comes to the sport.
Wilder returned to the sport after a year-long hiatus and came back with a bang. He defeated Finnish boxer Robert Helenius in the first round announcing his return to the world. Now, he might be interested in facing Oleksandr Usyk next as the Ukrainian is left without an opponent. This comes after his bout with current WBC champion Tyson Fury got canceled despite negations going on for a long time.

In a recent interview with FightHype, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ claimed that nobody was safe from him. He added that this was the beautiful thing about the sport as he wanted to face the most difficult opponents now that he has returned after a break.
The interviewer asked Wilder, “Is Usyk next?”
“The great thing about this and the business of boxing is that it’s a worldwide event and nobody is safe, you know what I mean? With that being said, I want the best of the best and we’ll see what happens when I step in the ring,” he said.
Moreover, Wilder knows the business of boxing and why high-profile fights are difficult to make. Thus, he was not shy in revealing why Usyk vs Fury got canceled.

“We can’t be surprised in this because we’ve been seeing some of the best fights that we think would have happened but didn’t happen and fell apart. Some of them have gotten very close and did fall apart. So, for me, fighting isn’t final, and it ain’t there until you get in the ring and the bell says ding. But even in the past, we’ve seen fighters get in there and got their a*s out of there after the bell rung you know?” he said
