In his reply to the father of the current undisputed lightweight champion, Lopez Sr. assured that they would make the fight happen if only they received a certain amount of money. After claiming they would break Taylor down on Saturday, Lopez Sr. reportedly accepted Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney.

Ahead of the fight with Josh Taylor, “a tough guy,” in Bill Haney’s words, Teofimo Lopez Sr. tried embracing the father of Devin Haney. Bill Haney, who wants to stage a bout between his son and Teofimo Lopez Jr., advised Teofimo Lopez Sr. to concentrate on Taylor and handle his business accordingly. “No, you don’t hug me. I know you love me but you handle your business and you concentrate on that. You got a tough guy here,” said Bill Haney. In his reply to Bill, Lopez Sr. declared that they would “box the sh*t out of” Taylor. As Teofimo Lopez Sr. confidently stated they would break Taylor down “little by little,” Bill Haney suggested Teofimo Lopez vs. Devin Haney next in boxing.

Teofimo Lopez Sr. admitted that he “was pressuring” his son “to go in and be hard.” “I forgot my son is the best when he boxer. You’re gonna see the best boxer in the world tomorrow. We ain’t coming to k*ll this guy. We’re gonna f***ing break him [Josh Taylor] down, little by little,” announced Teofimo Lopez Sr. in front of Bill Haney. As Lopez Sr. finished his sentences, Bill Haney asked, “If you win do you promise that it’s Devin and Lopez [next]?” To this, Lopez Sr. replied in affirmative. “F**k, yeah for $20 million motherf***er,” he said. “$20 Million. Teofimo vs. Haney after we put the sh*t on this motherf***er,” reiterated Lopez Sr. in front of Bill Haney.
