Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez defeated Jermell Charlo on 30th September, sustaining his undisputed super-middleweight title. Moreover, he left no leaf unturned to defeat Charlo in a dominant fashion, shunning all his critics. However, one such name that stands out when it comes to the unabashed censure of Alvarez is David Faitelson.

Canelo and David Faitelson’s relationship is far from amicable. In a live chat with Chicharito Hernandez, Canelo openly insulted the ESPN journalist, revealing his more volatile side. Furthermore, ‘Cinnamon’ has even gone to the extent of calling Faitelson an “a**hole.” But David wanted an exclusive interview with Saul after his win against ‘Iron Man.’ However, the Mexican Boxer denied giving him an interview on the grounds of their relationship. Fans have advocated this move by Alvarez. Some even highlighted the motive behind David’s criticism.

Fans think Faitelson’s criticism of Canelo Alvarez is driven by “hate”

Even for the Jermell Charlo fight, David had a critical take. According to him, ‘Cinnamon’ chooses fights in alignment with his whims rather than what the boxing world wants. Thus, when Canelo won, he was quick to dismiss him. Fans have sided with Canelo, even explaining on his behalf why this move was, in fact, right. Firstly, one fan expressed that, while critique is acceptable, Faitelson’s constant negativity towards Canelo crosses into the realm of hate. This fan also mentioned Faitelson’s recent claim that Canelo is barely a top 10 Mexican boxer of all time.

On a lighter note, another fan actually found the heated exchange between Faitelson and Canelo entertaining, reiterating the perception that Faitelson harbors animosity towards the boxer.

Shifting the focus, another fan stated that the “king of boxing,” presumably Canelo, has no time for “clowns” like Faitelson.

Then, a follower speculated that Faitelson’s unprofessional behavior and apparent bias could be the reason he is no longer with ESPN.

Furthermore, a user highlighted Faitelson as Canelo’s biggest “Mexican” hater. The user also named “Nacho Berestein” as belonging to the same league as Faitelson.
