Is the Benn vs. Eubank Jr. showdown the most anticipated fight, or just manufactured hype?

It was a brutal showdown. Chris Eubank Jr. showed why he is highly rated and why he belonged at the top of the middleweight division despite a few hiccups on the road. And Kamil Szeremeta had to face the brunt of it. But there was more to the fight after the referee stopped the fight, as Conor Benn stormed into the ring and set up an exciting future fight.

Notably, Eubank Jr. asserted his power and dominance, as he put aside Szeremeta in round 7 of their encounter. The British fighter not only dusted off his ring rust but also inserted himself into bigger fights next. It seems that a big fight is not too far from being made and he could find himself standing across Benn soon.

Eubank Jr. started the fight strongly, as he looked like his former self. He threatened to finish the fight early with his huge shots and searched for a fight-ending uppercut. While he came on top every time they exchanged punches, he failed to connect most of them.

However, it changed after Eubank Jr. allowed Szeremeta to come back in the middle rounds, only to drop him in the sixth round and build on it. Finally, another brutal blow to the body in the seventh round knocked him down again as the referee had seen enough. Interestingly, just after the stoppage, Benn confronted Eubank Jr. in the ring. But caught in between the two was Brazillian soccer star Neymar Jr., who was in attendance and tried to mediate a face-off between the two.

Fans blast Conor Benn for his theatrics

A fan threw a jibe at Benn. They wrote, “Conor Benn is a proper d-ckhead.” Benn had immediately entered the ring, disrupting Eubank Jr.’s festivities and not allowing him to enjoy his victory.

A user had a similar take as they shunned Benn for his actions. They declared, “How embarrassing is Conor Benn. #boxing #BeterbievBivol.” Interestingly, during the buildup of Eubank Jr. vs. Szeremeta, Benn had confronted Eubank Jr. and walked away after pushing him. But Eubank Jr. only smiled and didn’t allow Benn to pull him into an altercation on the eve of their fight.

Someone referenced Eubank Jr. and Benn’s past rivalry and the growing animosity. They announced, “Pretty impressive from Eubank. Benn is still the fight that NEEDS to happen, the latter winning with ease.” Eubank Jr. and Benn were booked to fight in 2022. But the latter tested positive for clomifene. While there were rumors for them to fight again, they didn’t come true.

A comment slammed Benn for his antics. The comment read, “Conor Benn has done amazingly well to make himself look like the biggest knob head out of him and Eubank.” Benn has a reputation for getting into his opponent’s heads with his theatrics and he is doing the same with Eubank Jr.

Lastly, another fan made parallels with another rivalry, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. They noted, “This Benn/Eubank nonsense is as embarrassing as Fury/Joshua… by the time it happens no one will care, manufactured sh-te!” Benn and Eubank Jr.’s rivalry has been stretched for more than 2 years now, with enough buildup and traction and it might soon fizzle out before they bank on it.
