It was in Wembley where they met for the first time. The first showdown in 2011 helped Fury pocket British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles. Thenceforwards, Dereck Chisora was the rabbit’s foot Tyson Fury felt disposed to embracing. Three years later, the friends met at ExCel, London. The Fight for the Right ended pitifully for Harare-born Chisora when his trainer Don Charles threw the towel in the tenth round. Though Fury defends the WBC title on 3rd December, most ponder the fight is for appearance’s sake. Two friends lolloping inside a ring; while one gets a tight stretch before the big battle in 2023, the other doesn’t complain about losing either. Both parties end up getting paid handsomely.
Final weigh-in: Tyson Fury, 268.6 lbs., Derek Chisora, 260.6 lbs.
The final weigh-in had the two gladiators squaring off. WBC president Mauricio Suleiman was in attendance. The event, for all intents and purposes, went without any brouhaha.

Staring down Del Boy War, The Gypsy King threw down the gauntlet, “Come on let’s have a f*****g fight. Let’s give it to them, Chisora, like I’m going to give you some. KO this time boys. Come on…”
Zipped, Chisora instead chose to mime j**k off on Fury’s face. Then, taking a cue, Fury continued, “We will see, we will see tomorrow night.”

After drawing out on the first, Fury won the second and finally the trilogy match against American Deontay Wilder. A few months later, on 23rd April, the former forced a technical knockout over Dillian Whyte. Then, announcing retirement from boxing, The Gypsy King retraced his steps back a few months later. Chisora stepped in when talks of a fight with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua buckled.
Two friends, trilogy and the undisputed championship
For the thirty-eight-year-old Derek, the third fight ensures a guaranteed amount of $4.5 million. But an upset victory over Fury may change the fortunes of the former European champion who lost twelve bouts in a professional career spanning fifteen years.

Tyson will be richer by $25 million once the fight is over. But on the flip side, the third victory over his friend will, in a manner of speaking, warm him for the target he wants to achieve dearly. So in case Chisora wins, will that bring The Gypsy King on the table to renegotiate the dissolved fight with Anthony Joshua, or who knows, the fourth fight with Deontay?
