New Angle From Devin Haney Fight Shows Ryan Garcia Actually Fulfilled His Brutal Promise to Bill Haney

Is Ryan Garcia a soothsayer? The 25-year-old Victorville native embarrassed Devin Haney, who, for the longest time, was touted as a contender for the pound-for-pound best. Garcia’s win on April 20 came as a massive shock to the entire community. However, something even more interesting found its way onto the web, which showed the puncher delivered on his promise to Bill Haney! What’s the promise? 

Well, way before the first press conference for the fight, Garcia appeared in an interview with Fight Hype, where he made some bold claims about the fight night. Fast forward to today. The very interview seems to be trending because what Garcia had predicted actually did come to fruition. And the same was captured by a fan who was in the arena in New York for the fight. Here’s what fortune teller Garcia said. 

Ryan Garcia gave Bill Haney three chances to stop the fight

In the old interview, Garcia said, “Devin’s gonna be destroyed, and his Daddy’s gonna have to help him up. I’ma tell Bill this now… He gonna have three chances to stop the fight.” Lo-and-behold, Garcia knocked Haney down three times during the fight, at least officially! 

He further added, “…We gonna see if you really care about your son. We’re gonna see where that love really is.” Three chances or not, Bill Haney didn’t interrupt the fight, and the fight went the full distance. However, it’s what Garcia said next that really proved to be the most chilling part of his statement.

Garcia had said, “I’ma look at you every time. I’ma give you that look like, ‘You better stop it. This ain’t gonna be right for Devin.’ If he’s not knocked out cold, it’s gonna be a lot worse.” In the clip shared by the fan, Garcia can be seen talking to Bill Haney, urging him to stop the fight, and delivering on what he had said he would do.

Moreover, Devin incidentally didn’t get knocked out and, as Garcia said, it was worse for Haney. By the end of the fight, his legs were barely there. Not to mention all the ridicule he has to endure after losing to Garcia, who claimed he was partying the whole time in the lead-up to the fight. While Devin is suffering the consequences of his upset loss, people are naming ‘KingRy’ the new face of boxing. 

Standup comedian brands Garcia the “most entertaining character”

At this point, it’s pretty clear that no one, absolutely no one, thought Ryan Garcia could win the fight. However, after his win, many of the naysayers gave Garcia his respect, including comedian Andrew Schulz. In the latest episode of his Brilliant Idiots podcast, Garcia was the topic of discussion. 

When the co-host questioned the 40-year-old comedian, asking whether Garcia was the new face of boxing. Schulz didn’t waste a breath in agreeing with the statement. He further added, “He’s by far the most entertaining character of boxing…the guy lit the internet on fire.” If what they are saying is true, Gervonta Davis might want a shot at Garcia again. And this time, things may look different! 

Even though it’s been ten days since Ryan Garcia did the unthinkable, people can’t seem to stop buzzing about the Devin Haney fight. So, considering Garcia executed his plan so perfectly, does Haney really deserve a rematch?
