Despite an age gap of 13 years, Floyd Mayweather defeated Canelo Alvarez via majority decision. Except for Judge CJ Ross who scored a draw, Judge Craig Metcalf and Dave Moretti gave the bout to Mayweather. Following the match, a number of people were of the opinion that Mayweather had schooled Alvarez in the ring. While Eddie Hearn thought Alvarez made a mistake by facing Mayweather at the young age of 23, a number of fans, authors, and publications claimed that ‘TBE’ schooled Saul.

Recently, echoing popular judgment, Max Calendrillo, the founder of Hardcore Boxing Fans stated that Mayweather vs. Alvarez was the “biggest schooling” ever in the history of boxing. Taking to X, he declared, “The Biggest Schooling in Boxing History“. Somehow the statement came to Jake Paul’s trainer BJ Flores’ notice. And quite surprisingly, he objected to Calendrillo’s opinion.

Although it is almost 10 years since the bout happened, boxing fans cannot help but talk about Mayweather vs. Alvarez. Irrespective of what others think of ‘TBE’ vs. Saul, Mayweather himself recently praised Canelo for taking the fight. Additionally, in a reply to those who claimed that Alvarez was “cherry-picking” his opponents now, ‘Money’ declared, You’ve [Canelo] proved yourself already“. While Mayweather sided with his former rival, the trainer of Jake Paul felt “many rounds were very close” in that fight.

According to BJ Flores, although Mayweather won, he barely hurt or damaged Canelo Alvarez in the ring. “Give me a break. Floyd won but many rounds very close. Never even remotely hurt or damaged Canelo,” Flores said. While people have their opinions about the fight, the bout with Mayweather helped Canelo actually grow in the sport.

Following this defeat, he became “much more competitive” and gained “a lot more experience”. Even though Alvarez also claimed that Mayweather “didn’t do too much to me either,” he became a “much more mature fighter” thanks to ‘TBE’.
