All the anticipation and excitement went down the drain when viewers tuned in to Netflix, as they saw a buffering screen. Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson had the hype, and it materialized with over 100 million people watching it live. But it all resulted in a chaotic event and a lawsuit, too. A month has passed since, and now Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos has revealed what exactly happened.
Sarandos appeared during the UBS conference in New York this Tuesday and also addressed the glitches his platform failed to address during the Paul vs. Tyson livestream. Notably, the fight became the most streamed sporting event in history, with 65 million concurrent households streaming the fight, shattering many records.
“It’s really phenomenal. It’s a Super Bowl-like audience that we were able to draw for this fight,” he stated. The high demand also meant additional resources to make it up on the internet. The American businessman also admitted they pushed every ISP (internet service provider) in the world to make it a seamless experience for the fans.

Ted Sarandos explained, “We were pushing the (ISP), every ISP in the world, right to the limits of their own capacity. We were stressing the limits of the internet itself that night. So we had a control room up in Silicon Valley that was re-engineering the entire internet to keep it during this fight because of the unprecedented demand that was happening.”

However, the Netflix lynchpin also expressed his delight at how they could draw attention, which challenged the Super Bowl. He attributed it to his team to make it a success in such a short time. But the event’s conclusion also raised some questions. Not related to the business side of the thing but to ‘Problem Child,’ his aspirations, and potential next opponent. It seems he has another legend waiting for a fight with him.
Roy Jones Jr. eager to run it with Jake Paul
Roy Jones Jr., 55, who fought ‘Iron Mike’ in 2020 in an exhibition encounter, disclosed he was not involved in conversations about a fight with Paul. But he believed he had the weight to enter into the ring with him. He told Boxing Scene, “It wouldn’t be hard to match his weight, I guess. They do catch weights… We can make it happen.”

In addition, the former world champion pointed out how the fight would end in a knockout for either of the fighters. He continued, “The only thing different, though, is he will probably have to take me out because I’m coming to knock him out. I’m going to get him, or he’s going to get me.” Besides, the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter also has the option to pick Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., too. It remains to be seen who Paul picks next, as he might take some time to rethink his career orientation and priorities.
