Oleksandr Usyk began his heavyweight journey on a pleasant note by vanquishing Dereck Chisora via decision on October 31. It was a huge victory for him, and the Ukrainian comfortably extended his undefeated run in the professional circuit. However, not everyone considers him as a threat to the heavyweight division.
While Usyk is now being billed against other heavyweight contenders and champions, Nathan Gorman doesn’t see him surpassing ‘The Juggernaut’. According to Gorman, Usyk cannot beat Joe Joyce as he pointed out some facts to validate his statement. When asked to predict the result of the Usyk vs Joyce fight, Gorman didn’t hesitate to pick up the WBC silver heavyweight champion.
Speaking with Boxing Social, Gorman said, “I think Joe Joyce beats him. I said this about him and Daniel (Dubois). Everyone’s gone- Daniel knocking down four rounds. I said, trust me, no one knocks Joe Joyce out of four rounds unless you are catching cold, like I said it could happen to anyone.”

He added, “I think he is too big and too walking and he is too good. Joe Joyce is like, being hit with him, a hammer and a hand hammer repeatedly, a hundred times for 12 rounds. That’s what it’s like.”
Joe Joyce vs Oleksandr Usyk- Is it the fight to make?
Both Usyk and Joyce are highly relevant in the current title picture. Usyk is the mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua‘s WBO title; Joyce is also searching for bigger titles at this stage of his career.
While Joshua will seemingly fight Fury next, Usyk can face Joyce to clear the ongoing heavyweight doubts. However, when considering their sparring session from the past and the current scenario, Gorman doesn’t see the Ukrainian overpowering the Brit.
“When Joe Joyce fought Usyk last time, Usyk was already an Olympic world champion, got nothing amateur fights. I think Joe Joyce was just on the GB screen, maybe a year or two into it. So he is fighting a very, very seasoned man now,” continued Nathan Gorman.

Despite all the conversation, Usyk is still a legitimate threat to the division. Being a former cruiserweight champion, the undefeated pugilist can put a similar mark on his heavyweight journey. While Joyce is equally skilled, only an in-ring collision can determine the better boxer between them.
