Naoya Inoue became the first undisputed super-bantamweight champion after defeating Marlon Tapales yesterday at Ariake Arena, Koto-Ku, Japan. The first thing Inoue did after the fight was address his fans on X (formerly Twitter). As expected, the tweet immediately elicited numerous responses from his fans and followers.

Besides his dominant tenth-round knock-out win, the Japanese ‘Monster’ joined the ranks of Claressa Shields and Terence Crawford to become the third boxer and the second male boxer to hold undisputed titles in two weight divisions. So, when the fans discovered the tweet from the new two-division undisputed king, they could not help but praise the boxer.

In his X message to his devoted followers, the undefeated boxer spoke about his recent achievement, claiming the year has been fruitful for him. He then goes on to say that the view of the audience while holding up all the belts inside the ring was amazing. Inoue concluded by thanking his fans for watching and supporting him during yesterday’s battle.

“I won four teams [belts] in two classes. We were able to see some amazing scenery again this year!! The view from the ring with the four belts wrapped around it [me] was amazing. Thank you for your support,” Inoue wrote in his tweet. Alongside the message, the 30-year-old boxer shared some pictures from the ring holding on to all his belts after the fight. Responding to Inoue’s tweet, some congratulated the newly crowned victor, while others praised Tapales for putting up a good fight. However, the overall theme in the comment section was celebratory. One user claimed the fight was amazing, and the performance from Inoue made them fall in love with him.

Someone else thanked Inoue for working hard while congratulating him for unifying the four divisions and becoming a two-division champion. The user says they are eager to see the ‘Monster’ back in the ring next year.
