Earlier this year, boxing sensation Ryan Garcia had a clash against another talented boxer Gervonta Davis. The fight was supposed to boost Garcia’s claim of being the best in the division. It was a fight that symbolized the new era of boxing as the two put their undefeated records on the line for a shot at glory. However, Garcia failed to live up to expectations. Prior to the bout a lot of people had pointed out the problems in Garcia’s defense.

In the end, the flaw cost him the win as Davis was quick to punish Garcia and won via TKO. It was then Garcia surprisingly changed his trainer and joined Derrick James who also coaches two other top-level boxers Errol Spence Jr and Anthony Joshua. Recently, a picture of all four of them together surfaced on the internet with an interesting question.

The night of the bout between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford is inching closer and closer. Both champions must be training hard for the legendary matchup. As the fervor rises to an all-time high, Derrick James, posted a picture of Garcia, Joshua, Spence Jr., and him together at the gym. In the caption he wrote, “Teamwork makes the dream work. Stablemates supporting each other.”

Pro Boxing Fans shared the photo on Twitter and asked an intriguing question. They wrote, “Name a more iconic quartet in boxing right now, we’ll wait…”

Indeed, it will be hard to find such a quartet anywhere else. It definitely shows the quality of James as a trainer to attract such talent. Furthermore, with the help of such stablemates, Spence Jr. will undoubtedly receive great help in preparation for the huge fight coming up.

Derrick James shares the key to beating Crawford

Derrick James has opened up about Errol Spence Jr.’s strategy for handling Crawford in their upcoming bout on July 29. In an interview with BoxingScene.com, he said, “The key for Errol is to know who he is and never really go outside of what we really want to do. To win, we have to chop, chop, chop him down. That’s the key element. Keep breaking [Crawford] down. That’s all I want him to do.”

He went further and stated that Spence must remain the “best version of himself” and stressed the need for him to stay focused. James also pointed out that a lot of times when a fighter gets hit, the “strategy and gameplan go out the window”. Thus he stressed the importance of staying focused during such times.
