Shields is known to be outspoken and blunt. In keeping with her true nature, she pulled no punches when it came to the podcast with Helwani. She recently took to her Instagram to share a clip of the podcast with Helwani and said “I’ve changed women’s boxing as a whole from the beginning! My records speak volumes but my trash talk is also high level and I sell my fights! Revolutionized the entire sport! #GWOAT! #Claressashields”

In the clip, she can be seen talking about how the promoters didn’t want women boxers to trash talk or sell their fights. She also talks about how she dictated terms to her promoters straightforwardly.

Claressa Shields guns for pay parity
The two-time Olympic gold medalist grew up poor in Michigan, she has faced the brunt of gender pay bias and decided to take matters into her own hand to fight for pay parity.
In an interview with ‘The Associated Press, the undisputed middleweight champion said “We don’t get the equal TV time, the equal promotion, equal pay. That’s what I’ve been trying to do with my platform, make sure I get all of that.” She has also been very vocal in her appeal to women to support and grow women’s sports.
